Day
1: Arrive in London and take in a whistle stop tour
of the sights
Day 2: Head from London to Cardiff along
the M4 motorway stopping first at Chepstow, the first town
in Wales, a border crossing guarded by its mighty medieval
castle. Then take a detour along the winding Wye Valley to
the romantic ruins of Tintern Abbey. Afterwards you can drive
on to Monmouth and Raglan castle surrounded by an impressive
moat and the ruins of the Roman village of Caerleon.
Day 3: On to Cardiff. To explore Wales’
bold capital city, the modern Cardiff Bay, the Museum of Welsh
Life, Cardiff Castle, Castell Coch and more.
Day
4: Leaving Cardiff you head west to Swansea, the
birthplace of the nations’ favourite literary son Dylan
Thomas. Visit the Maritime Quarter in the Bay and the Dylan
Thomas Centre for exhibitions on the life and works of the
‘Welsh Bard’. Then head out to the scenic Gower
Peninsula via Mumbles Bay and enjoy the golden sunset at Rhossili
Bay.
Day 5: Heading out to Pembrokeshire you’ll
stop by the sleepy hamlet of Laugharne, with its ruined castle
over looking a wide esturary filled with birdlife. Dylan Thomas
fell in love with the place and is buried nearby, his former
home, the Boathouse, where he wrote many of his best works,
is open to visitors. From Laugharne you will take the quiet
coast road past pebbled and sandy beaches to the pretty painted
seaside town of Tenby.
