Day 1 & 2: Coastal
Castles
Drive
from Manchester into Wales, through the mountain passes and
border towns of Mold and St Asaph and on to Conwy where you’ll
be greeted by the mighty 13th Century castle, the first in
a chain of fortresses that ring the North Wales coast. You’ll
be staying within the medieval city walls for a few days,
an ideal and historic base from which to explore the Isle
of Anglesey, it’s firm place in Welsh legend and the
second castle, Beaumaris Castle. Further along the coast is
Caernarfon, the third in the castle chain and the venue of
the investiture of the Prince of Wales.
Day 3: Into
the Mountains
Deep into mountain territory you go, to the picturesque village
of Betws-y-Coed within the Snowdonia National Park, a place
of mountain rivers, magical waterfalls and fantastic walking
trails. You could also venture further a field to Mount Snowden
itself, and take the train to the summit of the tallest mountain
in England and Wales.
