Day 1: Drive from Manchester via the Tudor fronted walled town of Chester to the town of Mold on the Welsh Borders and onto Betws-y-Coed in the heart of the Snowdonia Mountains and then to Conwy a town dominated by its mighty 13th Century castle and surrounded by its castle walls.

Day 2: Take the morning to explore Llandudno and the dramatic headland of the Great Orme before you head to the Isle of Anglesey, the Mother of Wales steeped in Wales’ ancient culture with a huge number of Neolithic sites, an impressive medieval castle of Beaumaris and the town with the longest name in the world (with 58 letters!)

Day 3 & 4: You’ll leave Anglesey and head for Caernarfon where you’ll encounter a third mighty Castle in as many days! From here head out to the remote Llyn Peninsula, a place of wonderful scenery and a rich source of the Welsh Language, then to the enchanting Italianate village of Portmeirion. From Portmeirion you can explore the majestic mountains of Snowdonia, you could even climb up Mount Snowdon the tallest in England and Wales, by taking a train to the summit.

Day 5: You’ll start the day with another mighty medieval castle at Harlech, then take the coast road south, weaving in and out of the mountains before you come to Machynlleth, once the rebel capital of Wales and a bastion of Welsh culture and then to the peaceful scenery of the Dyfi Valley in time to catch the graceful sunset over the estuary.

Experience Wales
