Why did you join My Guide Britain?
I have a love of all things Welsh, Scottish and English (even though I am a proud Welsh woman and love nothing better than when Wales beats England in anything!!) and I also love working with people. I saw this position as the perfect mix of the two and also a chance to share my knowledge of these areas to others.
What is your favourite part of Britain?
Gower Peninsula in South Wales, great beaches, cliff top walks and stunning scenery.
What is your favourite visitor attraction?
Museum of Welsh Life in St Fagans (near Cardiff). The museum has thirty buildings documenting how the Welsh have lived over the last 500 years. The buildings include a school, chapel, Workmen’s Institute as well as several workshops such as a blacksmith and cooper.
What is your favourite British food and restaurant in Britain?
Fresh fish served overlooking the sea. Patrick’s Restaurant in The Mumbles (near Swansea) is great for this. They have an excellent menu using local Welsh ingredients.
Which is your favourite pub in Britain?
Court House in Caerphilly, has a great view over the moat towards Caerphilly Castle.
Where do you like to shop?
Cardiff has an excellent range of shops from large department stores down to small boutiques all within the City centre.
Favourite getaway in Britain?
Bath has everything you need for a short break, good range of pubs and restaurants, plenty of shops and if you want a bit of history you can visit the Roman Baths.
Given your experience what advice would you give to people coming to Britain?
There’s more to Britain than “London England” so get out and explore all that Britain has to offer.
